Startwist Supreme polypropylene carpet

How good is this carpet?

You only have to see this carpet to know it's sheer quality. Whereas many cheap carpets turn out to be a disappointment, Startwist Supreme will surprise you with its luxurious feel and dense pile. It is a carpet that anybody would be happy to live with, ladies particularly will be pleased with its quality. Lying on the floor to watch TV won't be a problem! Polypropylene is surprisingly similar to wool to the touch and dyes with a similar matt look.

The colour we have chosen to stock is one found to be the most popular. It's a warm beige colour called Ratan, evocative of its namesake and having the right balance between lightness and practicality. Stocking one colour is part of the reason we have got the price down to what it is. Other colours can be quoted for on demand.

Why this carpet is very hardwearing

People don't really know too much about carpet quality, their concern is usually about colour and type - in short what it looks like. As long as it says "heavy domestic" most people are happy. Carpets don't wear out, they just become tired and shabby, perhaps eventually wearing thin in places.

Polypropylene can be prone to flattening but there is a technique of making carpet that will counteract this - it's called two ply yarn. Startwist features two ply yarn and is consequently seriously hardwearing. The manufacturers, Lano, have a time proven record manufacturing this carpet. Inspection will reveal the pile is also very dense in comparison to other carpets of a similar nature.

Practical for widths

Startwist comes in both 4 and 5 metre widths, making it very practical for planning. Carpet Sale stock both widths meaning that joins will not usually be necessary with proper planning. Four metre widths will usually suffice for most properties and seaming can be very successful if this turns out to be the cheapest width for planning. The pile is well set onto the backing and we have never known a delaminating complaint (or any complaint come to that!)

Planning and cost

Lano do make a standard version of Startwist which is cheaper and varies only in pile length. This doesn't save anything for most domestic customers because a better price is achieved when buying larger quantities such as a roll. Buying less than a roll (or thereabouts) will see the price increase for both standard and Supreme qualities cancelling out any saving.

Landlords may benefit from the standard quality which will wear more than enough to last more than one tenancy. Carpet Wear do not stock standard but can quote on it with a slightly longer delivery time. Most domestic customers will prefer Supreme.

Stain resistance

Startwists polypropylene pile is extremely practical for stain resistance, far more so than wool or nylon. This is because polypropylene cannot be altered by anything once it has set (including dyeing). This is the same for all polypropylene carpets, no single brand is particularly better than any other (despite what manufacturers would have you believe). I can personally vouch for this as I spill red wine frequently on polypropylene! It's hence a very stressless carpet to bring a family up on.

Polypropylene is chemically inert which makes it very resistant to fading from sunlight, it's even supposed to be resistant to battery acid (I've never tried it). If you wish to use it in the bathroom, ladies will be relieved to know you can even clean it with bleach (because of men I hasten to add!) Pets will prove no problem to polypropylene either. The only thing that may damage it would be petrol, oil or similar chemicals - rarely a problem if you don't do indoor motorbike repairs.

Mud will simply brush off once dry and won't do any damage if it does spread with the help of little feet coming in from the garden. In short, you can buy Startwist Supreme with every confidence.
